Soapy Science

As part of Wicor Primary School's ongoing work to reduce single use plastics, the children decided that they wanted to stop people from having plastic soap bottles in their houses.  They came up with the idea of creating their own soap bars using herbs from the school's allotments and with the help of a local soap maker, the Southsea Bathing hut.  And so 'Allotmint', a soap with a minty aroma derived from mint grown by the children, was born!  Over 400 bars have been sold so far, including 100 bars that were sold in less than two hours at the school's Christmas Fayre!  The children already have plans to launch new bars, infused with more school-grown herbs in the coming year!
