The Straws That Broke The Planet's Back

After finding out about all the different ways plastic was harming the environment, the older children decided to write a story to explain all about the problems plastics cause to younger children.  So, “The Straws That Broke The Planet’s Back” was created.

The heroes of the story are two reception children, who spent the year being taught about the damage plastic pollution is doing by the older children.

The book represents a year’s work and is as interactive as possible, with lots of moving parts to catch the attention of younger children whilst still being informative for older readers.

The children used a variety of recyclable or reusable materials to make the book. From old Christmas cards and cereal packets, to plastic waste and map and music paper, wherever possible the children made the environmentally sound choice.  They even created video segments to give additional interactivity to their story.
