Weeton Primary School's project set out with an ambitious aim - to establish a school garden area, grow vegetables and fruit from seed, harvest them, then cook and eat them outdoors on an open fire. The whole school was involved in this project and the aim was not only to foster a love of the outdoors, but also to provide children with the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to grow and cook home produced, organic, packaging-free foods in their future lives. This is a fantastic concept and has been a huge success. The children clearly love working in their garden area and with the raised beds, tyre planters and bug hotel, it's not surprising that they enjoy it so much!
