Our Garden

Children at St Benedict's do not speak English as a first language, but environmental education is helping them develop confidence in speaking, develop friendships with their peers, supporting mental health and teaching skills to support them throughout life. St Benedict's Eco Schools Team have been working immensely hard to educate the whole school on environmental issues, including single-use plastics and their detrimental impact on the world around us both on land and at sea; learning about deforestation in the Amazon rainforest; understanding where electricity comes from and the issues around fossil fuels; planting vegetables and fruit to sell to parents and the community; growing a wildflower garden to help support the declining bee population in the UK and much more to spread the word about how important it is we do all we can to protect the world around us rather than cause damage to it.
