GO WILD

Turners Hill Primary School have been entrants to the Better Energy School Awards  every year since 2008 and we have been constantly impressed with the fantastic environmental education the children receive.  This year's project highlighted the lack of knowledge that many children have regarding British wildlife.  Surveys have shown that children are more likely to know the names of Pokemon characters than they are of common British wildlife.  So, the children of Turners Hill got creative and developed games using a range of tools including Scratch (a visual programming language), made their own Top Trumps and wrote nature diaries enhance their own and other children's understanding of British wildlife in the local area.
