The Bees' Knees

The school's Eco Action team created a presentation about their work to involve the whole school in growing sunflowers and understanding the dangers that plastic pollution presents to marine life.  This culminated in a 'Protect Our Planet' day and inspired recycling projects and further learning about plastic pollution.  By requesting that children and parents donate money rather than buying Christmas cards, pupils collected £114 and used it to buy 8 native trees, to be planted in the National Forest.

They went on to raise awareness of the need to protect bees and encouraged children and their families to get involved in planting flowers and herbs to attract them.  They went on to spread their message to many other local schools too, reaching thousands of people.  Even in lockdown, the work has continued at home for many pupils!
