Seven years ago, the pupils of Lochdonhead created a nature trail leading from our school to a nearby landmark bridge, winning an award from YPTE. Over time pupils have used the trail for their learning and have had visitors from across the region walk along and enjoy it.
As none of the current pupils were involved in creating the trail, it was felt that it was time to analyse and evaluate the trail and how it could be refreshed for the benefit of the community and the children's learning.
As part of the process, schools were invited to walk the trail and provide ideas and suggestions for how to improve it.
The children have used the nature trail this year for health and well-being, science, art, maths and literacy ideas. It's a really great project that delivers benefits way beyond the immediate school community.
